Compact ELVAC RTUs are devices for remote monitoring, control, measurement and data acquisition in many fields of industrial automation, especially in the power industry, with a fixed configuration and minimal installation space requirements. From the user’s point of view, compact and modular RTUs have the same software base and the control is therefore exactly the same and compatible.
Compact ELVAC RTUs include the following features:
- control processor unit,
- parameterisation via the web or proprietary freely available parameterisation software,
- programmable logic and relational functions,
- integrated HMI, user-friendly graphical interface,
- remote access to all maintenance, parameterization, data acquisition, logging and analysis functions.
According to the type of compact unit:
- each type of unit is predestined for different types of applications due to its equipment, see below for a basic description,
- different variants of communication interfaces are available with support for different communication protocols, and whether a secure communication is required, it is also important,
- some types are equipped with digital or analogue inputs/outputs,
- external DC power supply is used, please refer to the product datasheets for the exact range of supply voltages and further details.

Note: For the use of our systems as data concentrators, i.e. systems where multiple communication protocols and communication interfaces are used at the same time, we recommend that you familiarize yourself with the licensing policy of our RTU systems.
RTU7MC3 (RTU7MC3-D)
Powerful communication unit, router, protocol converter and data concentrator. Supports IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-101, IEC 60870-5-103, IEC 60870-5-104, DNP3, MODBUS, HIOCom2, DLMS, OPC UA communication protocols, secure communication according to IEC 62351-3, programmability according to IEC 61131-3 standard or by means of graphical interface, communication tunnels, SQL database, etc.
RTU7C
It is the smallest type of RTU of our company, which is equipped with two or three communication interfaces (LAN, GSM/GPRS/LTE, RS-232/485), 4 x DI and 4 x DO. This type is used in applications where it is necessary to add suitable communication to devices that do not have it and to connect everything to the SCADA system, especially using IEC 60870-5-101/103/104, MODBUS or DNP3 Server protocols.
RTU7B
This type of RTU is designed for applications with low power consumption, which is achieved, among other things, by the fact that it is possible to set the period of connection to the parent system. It is particularly suitable for data acquisition in remote locations without an operator. The system comes in a rugged IP 68 enclosure, is equipped with inputs for various sensors and can be powered by batteries that can operate for more than a year.
