Licensing Policy for ELVAC RTU Firmware
Since firmware version 206, a credit system has been introduced that allows the user to use any protocol to communicate with higher-level systems (usually SCADA) or to convert one protocol to another. In these cases, it will usually not be necessary to deal with licenses for the protocols used or to purchase additional license packages.
The ELVAC RTU system comes with 30 credits as a base. If the application uses a larger number of protocols for a larger number of devices (data concentrator function), then the licensing policy is handled by purchasing credit packages (5 credits each). This principle also allows you to make any changes to the communication protocol settings without having to generate a special key for the combination. If the number of credits is sufficient, you are free to use any combination of communication protocols.
The calculator below can help you determine how many credits will be required in the ELVAC RTU for a particular combination of protocols used. Each communication channel or device takes up a certain number of credits. Typically, the first device to open a specified protocol will use more credits, while other devices with the same protocol will use fewer credits. Please enter the number of connected devices into each cell for given communivation protocol that will be used in your application and do not forget also about the communication to SCADA or other systems.
